Fastway Couriers franchisees from depots along Australia's east coast have delivered thousands of fresh daffodils to eager volunteers in support of tomorrow's Daffodil Day.
Cancer Council NSW Event Marketing Coordinator Felicity Winstone says teams from Fastway's Gold Coast, Northern Rivers, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Newcastle, Central Coast, Sydney and Wollongong franchises donated their time and services to relieve the charity of the complex logistics involved in merchandise distribution.
"Statistics show that 1 in 2 Australians will be affected by cancer by the age of 85. This means that there's a very good chance we all know someone who has been or will be affected by cancer," says Winstone.
"Daffodil Day, which is now in its 25th year, has grown to become the largest single charity event in the Southern Hemisphere. Sales of flowers and other merchandise on Daffodil Day help the Cancer Council continue to provide vital information and support to those affected by the disease, while paving the way toward a potential cure.”
"Fastway is helping us dedicate more funds directly to the fight against cancer by fulfilling a large percentage of the state's flower deliveries," says Winstone.
CEO of Fastway Couriers Australia, Richard Thame, says following the success of last year's event, Fastway Couriers continues to support Daffodil Day to assist the charity in reaching its goal of raising $3.8 million in NSW alone.
"Our commitment involves distributing daffodils to sites and supporters in cities along the East Coast. With over 200 drops taking place in Sydney alone, it's an enormous task – but ensuring deliveries arrive intact and on time is our speciality," says Thame.
"Fastway Couriers is fully invested in supporting this great cause. I ask all Australians to purchase a daffodil from any one of the hundreds of volunteers at supermarkets, stations and workplaces around the country tomorrow."
